I am the George J. Stigler Distinguished Service Professor and chair of the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at the University of Chicago.

I am a Research Associate in the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) Economic Fluctuations and Growth program and a research fellow in the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA)

I was the co-chair of the NBER Economic Fluctuations and Growth “Macro Perspectives” group with Richard Rogerson and Randall Wright from 2004-2014.

I was an editor of the Journal of Political Economy from 2004 to 2012.
